Start the New Year Right

Start the New Year Right

It’s another brand new year, and what else should we do but not to mess it up (again!). Every year we try to restart but this year, let’s finally freakin’ mean it! This year, let’s claim it as our best-est year ever! Here are six things I recommend:
1. Forgive and Let Go
Don’t bring the pain with you, otherwise, the new year will be another toxic year. Forgive not because they deserve to be forgiven, but because you deserve peace. Do it for your heart and mind. Let go of the bitterness and resentment that left you tied up. This is true even if there is no apology. You deserve to be happy. Unfortunately, you can’t be, if you continue to hold on to what’s hurting you.
2. Set Goals
Another year means more chances of growing and being better. Write down the things you would like to achieve the following year, and stand by them. Continue working on yourself. Be it getting a job, finishing a semester, or getting a new hobby. Having a new set of goals makes a more fruitful and exciting year to look forward to.
3. Appreciate those who have been consistent with you.
May it be friends, family, or partners, never let the year pass without letting them know how much of a help they’ve been to you. Recognize those who deserves to be carried through another year. Be grateful and let them feel your gratefulness.
4. Choose yourself, this time.
Look in the mirror and stare at your new priority. You! First, be done with the days where it is you who keeps on waiting. Second, be done with the days where you are someone else’s last minute plan. Third, be done with the days when you can’t say no. Finally, be done with putting others first. Just be done being a doormat. Recognize what makes you whole, and go for it.
5. Do what’s good for you.
Remember, what’s good for you doesn’t mean what makes you feel good. Let’s lessen relying on our heart and more on our gut this time around. Focus on what’ll make yourself grow. Be better, and okay (genuinely okay). Stop doing what only makes you feel good. Drugs make people feel good but it’s bad for them. Embrace the pain, and let it mold you into who you should be, and  how other people should see you. Earn your place in society. Put your damn beautiful self out there and evolve.
6. Pray
Talk to him, and recognize how every waking day is a miracle. And every pain you’ve been through, was because of his help, and never ending love. That you are having another year, and more chances, because of his grace and mercy. Start recognizing his help in your life.
